Aluminium ingots created from scrap aluminium for recycling

Sims Metal Management UK operates four main processes for cleaning, separating and upgrading of ferrous and non-ferrous metals: Shredding, Baling, Shearing and Dense Media Separation (DMS). Each provides a range of grades of ferrous metal, non ferrous metal and other materials such as plastic for recycling.

With 35 UK scrap metal merchants, we’re able to generate large quantities of recycled scrap metal for resale to domestic and international markets. Sims Metal Management has over 230 recycling facilities worldwide, so we can also source recycled ferrous and non ferrous metal from around the world for our UK customers.

Key products include:

  • Fragmented furnace feed – over 800,000 tonnes each year is produced by our shredders from waste such as scrap cars and end of life consumer goods.
  • Clean cut grades of ferrous scrap for steel and foundry markets.
  • High grade non ferrous metals including copper and aluminium are produced as clean graded metals direct from our sites.  They are also recovered from fragmentised shredder material by our Dense Media Separation (DMS) plant, one of only a handful of dense media plants in the UK.
  • High quality low residual chemistry bales for critical quality steel specifications is produced by our large baling presses.
