The Sleigh, accompanied by Elves from the Rotary Club, will be touring the Burton on Trent and Derby areas in the run up to Christmas to raise money for local childrens and adults hospices.

The new sleigh is mounted on a purpose built trailer bed constructed of aluminium with the reclining seat fixed securely on the top.

Derby metal yard Site Manager, Richard Brooks, said: “The Rotary Club does a lot of good work to raise funds for local hospices and other good causes worldwide.  So we were more than happy to donate a seat from an old van which would otherwise have been scrapped and recycled, to be reused by Santa while he does his rounds.”

Peter Moralee of Bretby Rotary Club said:  “We are very grateful for the kind donation from Sims Metal Management in Derby.  Santa will be riding very comfortably this year in his new sleigh sitting in his armchair style reclining van seat.”

The sleigh has been fitted with over 2000 white led lights and a state of the art sound system. Rudolph - complete with a flashing red nose - will be riding on the sleigh tow bar.
