Employees at our Sims Metal Management’s metal recycling facility in Camborne have received an award from Devon and Cornwall Community Watch Association in recognition of the assistance they have given to local police in cracking down on metal theft in the area.

Malcolm Heath, Scott Williams, Damon Jull, and Scott Harris, of Sims Metal Management in Camborne were presented with the Devon and Cornwall Community Watch ‘Community Support Award’ by Assistant Chief Constable Sharon Taylor and Julie Dowton of Devon and Community Watch.
The award was presented by Assistant Chief Constable for Devon and Cornwall, Sharon Taylor, who said: “The local policing team has established an excellent working relationship with staff at Sims who have gone out of their way, time and again, to assist officers wherever possible. The support they have given the Police sends out a clear message to those members of the community who believe that it is acceptable to steal scrap metal and as a result, there has been a noticeable fall in this type of crime in Camborne.”
Sims recently helped officers deal with a sudden rise in the theft of lead from roofs in the area of Camborne town centre.
Sims Metal Management’s Malcolm Heath said: “We like to assist the local community wherever possible, so we are pleased to have been able to help Camborne Police reduce the serious crime of metal theft in the local area. We would also like to say a big thank you to Devon and Cornwall Community Watch Association for the work they do to keep our communities safe and for recognising our efforts in this way.”
Sharon Taylor concluded: “This type of support from a scrap metal merchant is unprecedented, and is very much appreciated by the local police. Without the support of Sims, the local police would struggle to find solutions that assist in reducing crime and improving the quality of life for the community as a whole.”
