Avonmouth achieves BS OHSAS 18001
Sims Metal Management’s shredder and dockside facility at Avonmouth has achieved recommendation for registration to the health and safety management system standard
BS OHSAS 18001:2007 for the scope of the processing and recovery of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

Certification to the standard was recommended after the site successfully demonstrated to health and safety inspectors that their standards of health and safety are of the very highest calibre.
Sims Metal Management’s General Manager for the South West, Richard Frampton commented: “We are very proud to be recommended for this certification. The award reflects the considerable efforts made by Stuart Wilcox and his team at Avonmouth over the last few months to further improve our already very high safety standards. Many thanks to our Regional Health and Safety Advisor, Paul Meehan and systems specialist Steve Powell whose input was invaluable in achieving this most positive result.”
Sims Metal Management now holds BS OHSAS 18001 at eight sites in the UK and preparations are now in hand to achieve certification at Newport and Nottingham.
