Train and rolling stock recycling

Scrap locomotive on trailer

Sims Metal Management has specialist equipment for depolluting, dismantling and recycling scrap trains and rolling stock. We pay competitive scrap metal prices and have a range of specialist equipment to provide a comprehensive national rail scrappage service.

Many of our scrap metal recycling centres have specialist facilities for depolluting, dismantling and recycling a wide range of rolling stock such as locomotives, metros, trams, diesel and electric multiple units, passenger coaches, light rail vehicles and high speed trains.

Two of our sites have rail links, others use specialist road haulage vehicles to transport scrap rail vehicles for disposal.

Sims metal recycling centres are equipped with specialist cutting equipment to reduce rail vehicles and other large scrap equipment into recyclable segments. Harmful pollutants such as oil are recovered prior to dismantling.

Our Newport (pictured above) and Nottingham metal recycling facilities have rail links enabling transfer of scrap rolling stock directly. The other sites use specialist road haulage to transport rail vehicles for recycling
